Chapter 35 – Mysterious Goblin Slayer

The heavily armored mysterious figure was none other than the renowned Goblin Slayer.

He wasn't an adventurer and didn't belong to any faction.

He simply enjoyed slaughtering goblins.

If you had to assign him a rank, it would be close to epic level, with stories about him circulating in many parts of the empire.

Cecil felt awkward for a moment, "I apologize for my rudeness. I didn't recognize you."

"I prefer not to be too well-known. It's enough for me to quietly keep killing goblins."

Goblin Slayer replied indifferently.

Gru, the old man, took the opportunity to mock, "Haha, Prince Cecil, you haven't even heard of the Goblin Slayer? He's someone who has killed goblin leaders.

By the way, it's said you killed thousands of goblins in one battle. Is that true? Your combat power is almost on par with the Sword Saintess!"

Thousands?!

Cecil's face was full of astonishment upon hearing this.

That's way too many! And there were even goblin leaders among them!

Goblin Slayer started to get impatient, "Whether it's true or not doesn't matter. Even if I killed tens of thousands, there are still more goblins to kill."

Seeing his impatience, Gru quickly explained their purpose, "We plan to join forces to wipe out that group of goblins. How about we cooperate, Goblin Slayer?"

"Yes, yes, even the Sword Saintess fell to those goblins. Cooperation would be better."

Hearing about his prowess, Cecil also hurriedly tried to recruit him.

"Cooperate? I have done so before, but every time, my partners were killed by goblins. I think I'll pass."

Goblin Slayer declined politely.

Cecil felt a bit troubled. This guy was too arrogant, wasn't he?

He even mentioned that the Sword Saintess fell. Could he be that confident?

Gru wanted to say something else, but Goblin Slayer interrupted, "You need to team up, but I don't. Want to know why?"

"You!"

Gru suddenly crushed the cookie in his hand, his old face twitching, "Aren't you being too arrogant! When the goblins capture you and chop off your limbs to cook, don't come begging for help!"

He couldn't hold back any longer.

In the past, if someone dared to speak like this, he would have blasted them with a powerful spell.

Seeing the situation getting complicated, Cecil quickly tried to mediate, "Forget it, forget it. It's fine if we don't cooperate."

"Hmph, I just hope you don't come begging me for help later."

Goblin Slayer left without looking back.

Leaving the two men, one dumbfounded and the other furious.

Cecil couldn't help but smile wryly, "What a weirdo."

"Bah, just a useless guy who killed a few goblins. Who gave him such a big face? Anyone would think he cleared out some high-level magical beasts or cleaned up the Great Tomb!"

Gru cursed.

The Great Tomb was the largest gathering place of magical creatures within the Lionheart Empire, said to have birthed a twelfth-tier Demon King.

It had always been a major headache, even the Sword Saintess avoided it.

Then, Gru stood up, "Let's go! What are you waiting for? Let's clean up those goblins. I don't want to stay in this hellhole any longer!"

"Now? Are you sure we shouldn't prepare a bit more?"

Cecil was a bit cautious, considering even the Sword Saintess had suffered losses.

Gru snorted, "Prepare for what? Just a bunch of goblins. If we can't handle them together, then we're useless! Besides, if we don't act now, that guy will steal the glory!"

"That makes sense."

With that, the two of them led their team and set off.

...

On a distant hillside, a large green head peeked out.

Those cold eyes grew more chilling the longer they stared.

Lin Tian used the Elven race's 'Keen' skill to observe the three men from afar, calculating in his mind.

"Goblin Slayer? I didn't expect such a character to exist, someone who specializes in hunting goblins. There are too many weirdos."

Those perverted bastards like Loder enjoyed torturing the weak.

And now there was someone who specialized in hunting goblins.

What did goblins ever do to anyone? Oh wait, they probably did something to everyone.

"Hiss!"

Looking at Goblin Slayer's attribute panel, Lin Tian didn't know what to say.

What kind of range is 1000 to 3000?

Is this a joke?

"System, are you unreliable or is there a problem?"

Lin Tian quickly asked.

However, the system gave an annoying official response, "Sorry, host, there is no problem here."

He couldn't get any more answers.

Oh well, let's check the other two's attribute panels.

Cecil, overall combat power around 1300, class is 'Holy Knight', with skills that counter magical creatures.

Gru, overall combat power a bit higher, 1400, class is 'Archmage', with numerous skills, making him more difficult to deal with.

Seeing them leave Bright Town, Lin Tian also mounted Xiaohuan and set off ahead.

"These two Diamond Ranks seem pretty dumb, shouldn't be a big problem, but that Goblin Slayer... needs more thought."

...

Riding their horses, Cecil and his team soon arrived around the ruins of the Skycraze Tribe.

Nothing was left, it had been deliberately cleaned up to blend with the surrounding environment.

Creating a misleading effect.

Making those looking for trouble think they hadn't moved, just couldn't be found.

"Huh? This large goblin tribe should have been discovered long ago? The Enchanted Forest isn't that big."

Gru, the old man, said in confusion.

Something felt off.

Cecil also said, "There are many signs of battles along the way, although they are from a long time ago, it proves that the tribe was around here."

The two teams searched for a long time and finally found something.

"Old man, look at this."

At this moment, Cecil picked up a strand of golden hair.

Gru stared at it for a long time, sniffed it, and examined it closely, "If I'm not mistaken, this is elf hair."

"Elf? That neutral demi-human race? No way!"

Cecil was a bit surprised, suddenly understanding something.

He quickly said, "Could it be that the Elven race helped those goblins hide? That's impossible!"

Goblins are universally hated by all races.

If this is true, there must be some high-level intelligence involved!

"Hiding doesn't seem likely. I've checked this area, there are no caves. The elves must have helped them move and hidden their tracks well."

Gru said seriously, starting to think.

The elves' stealth and concealment skills were well-known.

Finally, Gru said, "Find a flower butterfly. These butterflies love the scent of elves."

After a long effort, they found a small, flower-like butterfly.

Once brought to the spot, Cecil opened the bottle and released it.

The butterfly seemed to have a purpose, flying in a specific direction.

"Follow it."

Gru instructed.

The group marked their path as they went.

Eventually, they reached the riverbank.

"Damn, they might have crossed the river. The butterfly lost the scent."

Gru muttered, scanning the surroundings.

Without the butterfly's guidance, they were like headless flies.

Cecil sighed, "It's been almost a day, and we haven't found any traces. Let's wait for the Goblin Slayer to find them and then act first."

They couldn't find them, but the Goblin Slayer might have a way.

Gru, however, didn't want to work with that guy, even if it meant taking advantage, "Hmph, no need. Hmm? Look at the forest edge across the river!"

A Great Type Goblin was wandering at the forest edge.

Seeing Cecil and his team, it turned and ran into the forest.

"Chase!!!"
